Before we begin to tell you all about the exciting events that have been taking place at our Wolves Sikh Society, we would like to give a warm welcome to all our new sikh sockers! and a hearty welcome back to the oldies of the society. Whether you are old or new we hope you have had an amazing holiday, relaxing and taking a break from education.
With Guru Ji's kirpa our first Sikh Society was a great success. A large number of students took some valuable time out and attended the 'soda n samosa' event. Other than the scrumptious samosa's we also had two very inspirational Gursikhs come in and give a presentation to the students about 'student pressures.'
These chardi kala gursikhs were Bhai Manvir Singh and Bhai Kulwant Singh, their talk explored the problems that we as students can and are most likely to face.Along with stating the problems Bhai Manvir Singh and Bhai Kulwant Singh also highlighted the ways in which we can solve them and overcome the problems.
All the sikh sockers were very enthusiastic throughout the presentation. After the talk and presentation the students enjoyed a round of samose and soda to wash down the loads of information recieved by them in the talk.
Even though this much would be enough for many Sikh Societies, we at Wolves Uni like to give you something extra!So, we headed down to our local Gurdwara, which is the Ramgharia Gurdwara and had a small but uplifting Kirtan programme.
As you can see it was a pretty helpful day! Our speakers provided invaluable advice and the Kirtan programme lifted our spirts and gave us a chance to see the one who made this day possible, our Guru Maharaaj.
Well, if all that seems to tickle your fancy why not come along to the other Sikh Society events and to our regular sikh Society memebers, we'll see you next time for sure!

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!

To mark the Sikh New Year ‘Vaisakhi’ the Sikh Society of Wolves Uni hosted an exciting event for all students and visitors.
The event was no doubt successful as it attracted hundreds of people from all different ethnic backgrounds and cultures.
A Langar of Samose and Sholay brought a smile to the event attendees. The Langar was washed down by an assortment of soft drinks served by Sikh Society sevadaars.
The Langar was exercised off by Baljit Singh’s Gatka Akhara. Just watching them seemed to take off pounds! The Gatka demonstrations were spectacular to watch and it showed the spectators the fighting spirit of the Khanda born.
Apart from all the fun of the day there was also a large amount learnt about Sikhi by the visitors. This was done by the stalls set up presenting information about different aspects of Sikhi. For example, there were stalls based on Kirtan, the Five Kakkars and stalls with pictures of old times. These proved helpful as a picture tells a thousand words.
There was also a Dastaar tying workshop where Dastaara were tied on those who wanted a taster of what it is like wearing a crown.
After the event many Sikh visitors went to the Ramgharia Gurdwara where the youth took turns to sing Kirtan. There was a show of beautiful voices and different styles for those who were listening. Committee members of the Gurdwara also came to take advantage of the Sangat’s company.
But all this would not have been possible if it hadn’t been for our trusty Sikh Society sevadaars. So a big thank you to everyone who took part in helping to make the day a success and a valuable learning experience. And of course a thank you to all the visitors who came by to support the Sikh Society event. You all made it a day to remember!
